Property Tax Credits

In Nebraska, property taxpayers benefit from two tax credits. The first, the Real Property Tax Credit, provides a tax credit to taxpayers for property taxes levied against real property. The School District Property Tax Relief Credit (SDPTRC) provides relief for property tax levied against real property by a school district. Both credits directly decrease property taxes for taxpayers and are funded by the State of Nebraska. When a taxpayer does not use their full amount of credits, the unused portion of the tax credit monies must be returned to the Property Tax Administrator by the county treasurer.
