Alert of New Email Phishing Scams

The Nebraska Department of Revenue (DOR) has been alerted to a new email phishing scam. The emails indicate they were sent by the “Head” or “Director of Nebraska Department of Revenue.” The subject lines show “Payment notice” or “Payment announcement” in the title. The emails contain attachments with additional information on steps to take. Don’t get scammed. These emails are not from DOR. We have provided examples of the emails received.

Do not open the attachments or click on any links! Taxpayers who get these messages should not respond to the email.

DOR does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email, texting, or any form of social media.
