The Investigations Section is the Department of Revenue’s law enforcement unit and consists of commissioned Deputy State Sheriffs. Among other duties, the Investigations Sections conducts employment and licensing investigations. Background application documents may be securely uploaded to the appropriate link below.

Protect Yourself from Fraud.

“If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!" Don't become a victim to any scheme that offers instant wealth or exemption from your obligation to file tax returns and/or pay taxes. Some of these schemes can literally cost you your life savings.

  • The Department will never ask for your birth date or social security number by phone or email.
  • Check your credit record on an annual basis.
  • Check your Social Security records for unexplained earnings.
  • A lottery will NEVER charge you to receive a prize.
  • A lottery will NEVER contact you about winning a jackpot.
  • There is NO WAY to win a lottery prize if you did not play a lottery game.
  • Locate a phone number from the Department’s official website and ask about the claim.
