Nebraska Information Technology Commission (NITC) Standards

The Nebraska Information Technology Commission is a nine‑member commission that promotes the use of information technology in education, health care, economic development, and all levels of government service. Part of the responsibilities of the NITC is to adopt guidelines regarding project planning and management, information‑sharing, and administrative and technical review procedures involving state‑owned or state‑supported technology and infrastructure; and to adopt minimum technical standards, guidelines, and architectures upon recommendation by the technical panel.

Governmental entities, state agencies, and political subdivisions must submit projects that directly use state‑appropriated funds for information technology purposes to the process established by Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 86‑512 to 86‑524. Additionally, governmental entities and political subdivisions may submit other projects involving information technology to the Commission for comment, review, and recommendations.
