NEBRASKA DELINQUENT TAXPAYER LIST NOW ONLINE

LINCOLN – Tax Commissioner Doug Ewald announced today the posting of the names and addresses of the initial delinquent taxpayers to the Nebraska Department of Revenue's (Department) website, www.revenue.nebraska.gov, who collectively owe the State of Nebraska over $14.2 million.

“This is just one more way we are pursuing delinquent taxpayers to ensure that everyone is paying what they owe. No more, no less,” said Ewald.

In 2010, the Nebraska Legislature authorized the Tax Commissioner to publish the names and addresses of delinquent taxpayers who owe more than $20,000 in delinquent taxes and fees. These delinquent taxpayers have been sent multiple notices regarding their delinquent tax liability and have exhausted or waived all rights to appeal their tax delinquency. The Department has also filed one or more liens against each delinquent taxpayer. Nebraska is one of over 20 states to publish lists of delinquent taxpayers online.

“Experience in other states has shown that outstanding delinquent accounts are often resolved just so people can avoid having their names posted online,” Ewald says. “Another group of people will resolve their accounts immediately after seeing their names online. Ultimately, this will provide the motivation some people need to finally resolve their tax debts.”

You can see the “Top 25” delinquent taxpayers in the state. You can also view the delinquent taxpayer list by taxpayer name or amount of tax delinquency.

The Nebraska Department of Revenue’s mission is to serve the public by administering the state revenue laws with integrity, efficiency, and consistency.
